In South Sudan FAO supports women farmers and entrepreneurs to boost capacities and livelihoods

In South Sudan, FAO empowers women in agrifood systems through tailored support. Many participants, already farmers or business owners, receive training in vegetable production and irrigation, seeds, and tools. Women with malnourished children also receive small ruminants to improve nutrition. Savings and loans associations further enhance their economic empowerment.

FAO will celebrate the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 to raise awareness of women's innovative practices and diverse contributions across agrifood value chains, particularly in South Sudan. Learn more and connect with FAO:
