Equal Rights for Women is a major category, like energy or climate change, of sustainability and the voices in this collection are of the present and the past.

If we don't address human rights and social justice of which the sustainability keywords and phrases include children's rights and welfare; human trafficking, slavery, and women's rights and roles, then as David Korten points out, we will not be able to come to terms with the limits of the planet and not even technology will be able to save us.

Indigenous women leaders will discuss the impacts of fossil fuels, deforestation, and the climate crisis on their communities. They will showcase their solutions, traditional knowledge systems, and efforts to uphold Indigenous rights while advancing policies for care and climate justice.

This UNPFII side event features two panels of global Indigenous women. Panel One includes Ruth Łchav’aya K’isen Miller, Yasso Kanti Bhattachan, Claire Charlo, and Xiye Bastida. Panel Two features Josefina Tunki, President Whitney Gravelle, Michelle Woodhouse, and Majo Andrade Cerda. Osprey Orielle Lake, WECAN Executive Director, will moderate.
