Our Youth Speak Up

About This Collection

Let's hear from our children, and their advocates, on the social, environmental, cultural, and economic concerns around sustainability and the call to always act responsibly and with the next seven generations in mind. The collection will also feature, from time to time, adults who are speaking on behalf of children.

To add to this collection email children@earthsayers.com.  Thank you.

In 2019, artist, poet, and organizer Artemisio Romero y Carver co-founded Youth United for Climate Crisis Action (YUCCA). This youth-led nonprofit holds elected officials accountable for the health of the planet, future generations, and BIPOC communities. YUCCA leads protests, lobbies for federal and state legislation, endorses candidates, and educates voters.

Romero y Carver, 18, serves on YUCCA's steering committee and as a spokesperson. As YUCCA’s policy director during New Mexico’s 2021 legislative session, she helped pass three priority bills. These bills combat climate change through market regulation and energy diversification. Romero y Carver was Santa Fe’s 2020 Youth Poet Laureate, using her art to empower the disempowered.
