How to conquer the feather waste problem | Beti Vidmar | TEDxLjubljana
When we think of waste, we normaly don`t think about fethers. But keratine waste is a big problem in the food industry because it does not decompose easily. Current waste management of fether waste is most often limited to burning them or soaking them in chemicals. Microorganisms help us solve this problem much better. Beti has been passionate about the world of microorganisms since a very early age. She is a Young Researcher at the Microbiology and Microbe Biotechnology Department at the Biotechnical Faculty. Nowadays, Beti is working on her doctorate, researching the decomposition of keratin waste with microbes in the agro-industry. Beti is also very active at raising awareness about science and spreading the knowledge among people. She is a member of Science on the Street (Slo. Znanost na cesti) and has participated in several science slams, including the European Science Slam in which she represented Slovenia in September 2019. Beti's vision is to take projects from laboratory to practice, and is guided by a single idea: ""For those who are curious, the whole world is a laboratory. Beti je mlada raziskovalka na Katedri za mikrobiologijo in mikrobno biotehnologijo Biotehniške fakultete. Zase pravi, da jo je svet mikroorganizmov odnesel že zelo zgodaj. Danes pa, tekom doktorata, z mentorico doc. dr. Mašo Vodovnik in somentorico prof. dr. Njena vizija je vpeljati čim več projektov iz laboratorija v prakso, na tej poti pa jo vodi le ena misel: »Za radovedno glavo je ves svet laboratorij.« This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. A harmadik 30 év | Margit Biermann | TEDxBenedekHegy
A 60 év feletti kor életünknek egy különleges szakasza: ebben az időszakban megyünk nyugdíjba és ránk szakad a fiatal korban gyakran áhított szabadság. Tele vagyunk tapasztalatokkal, de tervekkel is. Ragaszkodunk a szokásainkhoz, de azért hajlandók vagyunk új dolgokat is kipróbálni. Időnként rácsodálkozunk a technika vívmányaira, próbáljuk megtalálni a közös hangot a fiatalokkal és igyekszünk lépést tartani a világ változásaival. A múltunkat ismerjük, de vajon milyen lesz a jövőnk? Biermann Margit mérnök-közgazdász a Pannon Egyetem oktatója. Napjait fiatalok körében tölti, igyekszik kellő megértéssel, türelemmel, humorral kezelni a generációs sajátosságaikat. Már belépett a hatodik X-be, így egyre többet gondolkozik azon, vajon milyen lesz majd nyugdíjasnak lenni. Why you should be a climate activist | Luisa Neubauer

"I dream of a world where geography classes teach about the climate crisis as this one great challenge that was won by people like you and me," says climate activist Luisa Neubauer. With Greta Thunberg, Neubauer helped initiate "Fridays For Future," the momentous international school strike movement that protests the lack of action on the climate crisis. She shares four first steps that anyone, regardless of age, can take to become a climate activist. "This is not a job for a single generation. This is a job for humanity," she says.

The disarming case to act right now on climate change with Greta Thunberg

In this passionate call to action, 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg explains why, in August 2018, she walked out of school and organized a strike to raise awareness of global warming, protesting outside the Swedish parliament and grabbing the world's attention. "The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions," Thunberg says. "All we have to do is to wake up and change."
