Farid, a digital forensics expert, emphasizes the critical need to balance an open internet with reining in online abuses, a complex task vital for healthy online communities. He is Chair of Computer Science at Dartmouth and a Senior Adviser to the Counter Extremism Project.

Racism denies humanity, sexism demeans, and their intersection limits true freedom. Frances Cudjoe-Waters, a Black woman and Harvard Law alumna, realized the exhaustion of politely presenting her pain to predominantly white audiences. She decided to abandon polite conversation and speak her truth, declaring, "I Ain't Sorry." She never expected to witness the reemergence of civil rights issues like Charlottesville and repeated acquittals for killings of Black individuals, reminiscent of the 1960s. While seeking to facilitate discussions, she recognized the toll of maintaining dispassionate intellectualism. Her family was featured in the Dallas Morning News.

On June 21, 2017, the summer solstice and National Aboriginal Day, Turtle Lodge Elders and representatives from the Original Nations lit a sacred fire at Manitou Api. The flame was brought to Winnipeg, where Elder Dave Courchene lit the Centennial Flame at the Manitoba Legislative Building. It will burn for one year, inspiring the province and nation.

This sacred flame launched the 2017 Canada Games torch run in Manitoba and later lit the Games' cauldron.

A video for the Canada Games was created by Patrick Roberge, PRP Inc. Acknowledgements go to the Elders for their vision and to Barry Mathers for his hard work with the Canada Games and Turtle Lodge.

Sadie-Phoenix Lavoie, a 22-year-old Anishnabe woman from Sagkeeng First Nation, co-chairs the Onjisay Aki Youth Climate Summit. She is pursuing a BA in Indigenous Studies at the University of Winnipeg, serves as VP External for the UW Students' Association, and co-founded Red Rising Magazine.

The First Peoples-led Onjisay Aki Youth Climate Summit was held at Turtle Lodge from September 16-19, 2016. On International Peace Day eve (September 21, 2016), participating youth released a spiritually-informed statement for international peace and healing.
