Elder Darrell Bob shares a path to overcoming addiction by connecting to the land, reclaiming spiritual identity, and embracing ancestral ways. He stresses accepting past mistakes to heal, move forward, and support families.

The Turtle Lodge International Centre for Indigenous Education and Wellness, partnered with Sagkeeng Mino Pimatiziwin, provides guidance on addiction healing. Over the coming weeks, a series will feature Elders discussing root causes and fostering balanced, healthy lives.

“Reconciling Ways of Knowing, Dialogue 4: Two-Eyed Seeing & Beyond” originally aired on October 28, 2020. This session featured Mi’kmaq Elder Albert Marshall, Drs. Jesse Popp, Andrea Reid, and Deborah McGregor, moderated by Jacquie Miller, MA. They explored Etuaptmumk, or Two-Eyed Seeing, a guiding principle developed by Elder Marshall.

Etuaptmumk emphasizes integrating two or more perspectives for improved outcomes. Understood as a gift of multiple viewpoints, this framework enhances our shared lives, including our relationship with the Earth. The discussion highlighted how Two-Eyed Seeing necessitates collaborative learning and understanding, drawing parallels with the Two-Row Wampum for guiding cross-cultural collaboration.

The "Reconciling Ways of Knowing Series, Dialogue 3: Braiding Ways of Knowing" featured Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of *Braiding Sweetgrass*, in conversation with Dr. Nancy Turner. They explored how Indigenous and scientific ways of knowing can be integrated, drawing from Dr. Kimmerer's work on traditional ecological knowledge and moss ecology.

Project founders Miles Richardson, Dr. David Suzuki, and Elder Dr. Dave Courchene, Jr. joined the discussion. They connected Dr. Kimmerer's insights to the project's objective: building better relationships across diverse knowledge systems and achieving improved stewardship outcomes.
