Part 2 of 2 Rob Bennett is the founding executive director of the Portland Sustainability Institute (PoSI). PoSI was founded in 2009 to systematically bring together business, higher education, nonprofit and municipal leaders to drive a set of next generation urban sustainability initiatives for the Portland metro region.

Rob talks about the concept of EcoDistricts and how the challenge is to blend pieces into a whole and cleaer strategy. He believes that positive change can only come from attacking challenges with enthusiasm for inspiring tangible, sustainable solutions at the local level. George Crombie is President of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and senior faculty member for public works administration in the MPA program at Norwich University in Vermont. In this interview he discusses the importance of looking to nature (biomimicry), multi-disciplined approach to problem solving, applying the principles of culture, recognizing the importance of  leadership with vision and integrity, and always acting on behalf of the common good.

Making environmental education fun and engaging for young folks is Victor Davila's passion, leading him to establish EcoRyders, a series of summer workshops that combine environmental and health education with skateboarding. Workshop participants build their own skateboards and learn about pressing environmental issues in their community. EcoRyders offers a way to tackle both high obesity rates among local youth as well as lack of public transportation in the area. He accepts the Brower Youth Award.

The Brower Youth Awards recognize people ages 13 to 22 living in North America who have shown outstanding leadership on a project or campaign with positive environmental and social impact.     

Alex Epstein co-founded New York 2 New Orleans Coalition, an network of New York City high school students mobilizing around the parallel struggles of New Orleans and their own communities.
