Madeleine Para, President of Citizens' Climate Lobby, kicks off our conference. Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv, leads the Diocese of Lexington and speaks out about the Church’s need to elevate care of creation as one of the core doctrines of the Church and a key pro-life issue. He is the Episcopal Advisor for the Catholic Committee of Appalachia and Bishop President of Pax Christi USA. Bishop Stowe was born in 1966, was ordained a priest in 1995 and appointed the third Bishop of Lexington by Pope Francis in 2015. His studies included the formation program for the Conventual Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Consolation at St. Bonaventure Friary in St. Louis, MO. He received his BA in both philosophy and history at St. Louis University in 1990. He subsequently earned a Masters in Divinity and a Licentiate in Church History from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA. CCL's Vice President of Government Affairs Dr. Danny Richter will spend time talking with Rep. Francis Rooney. Rep. Rooney was our Republican sponsor of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act in the 116th Congress and served as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See from 2005-2008. Ambassador Laurence Francis Rooney III (born December 4, 1953) is an American politician and diplomat who was the U.S. Representative for Florida's 19th congressional district. A Republican, he served as the United States Ambassador to the Holy See from 2005 until 2008. He was one of the original sponsors of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (HR 763) in the 116th Congress. He had served as the CEO of Rooney Holdings (formerly known as Rooney Brothers Company), an investment and holding company based in Naples, Florida.
