AIM4NatuRe: Turning global restoration commitments into action

AIM4NatuRe, led by FAO and the UK, helps countries meet Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 2: restoring 30% of degraded ecosystems by 2030. It works with Brazil, Peru, Kenya, and the Philippines to enhance restoration progress measurement, reporting, and decision-making.

Through the Target 2 Road Map and the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM), AIM4NatuRe aligns national efforts with global reporting and supports diverse ecosystem approaches. In Brazil and Peru, it also backs Indigenous-led, biocentric monitoring, translating commitments into action.

The "Youth Forum for the Transformation of Agri-food Systems" aims to establish a regional platform for young people across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its core objective is to strengthen their capacities, expand knowledge, foster collaborative networks, and develop joint proposals for transforming the region's agri-food systems.

The forum is structured over two days. Day one focuses on youth capacity building through workshops and interactive sessions, enhancing leadership, communication, and advocacy skills. Day two features a Preparatory Youth Dialogue, where participants will collectively develop a Regional Youth Declaration. This declaration will be a crucial input for the 39th FAO Regional Conference (LARC39) and other key decision-making forums.

FAO Elevate Program - Advanced Active Cooling Photovoltaic Panel Solar System

Marco Colangeli and Enrico Mandola have developed an innovative solar energy system. Their active-cooled photovoltaic panels float on water surfaces, simultaneously reducing evaporation, increasing energy efficiency by 20%, and creating affordable energy production space for local farmers.

Tested and scientifically approved between August and December 2025, this system is ready for implementation. It offers a significant solution, potentially reducing Jordan's annual water loss from dams by approximately 25 million cubic meters.
