Empowering Women to Boost Local Economies in Rural Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program (AREDP), funded by the World Bank and Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF), operates in six provinces. It empowers thousands of rural women by providing economic independence, income, and improved livelihoods.

Through initiatives like Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), AREDP offers vital loans and training. For instance, in Noor-e-Khuda village, Halima now owns a poultry farm and a cow, while Fatima and Sakina run successful sewing businesses, even training students.
