Yale Environmental Sustainability Summit (YESS) Plenary Panels

The Yale Environmental Sustainability Summit featured two key plenary panels. The first, "Flowing Capital to a Sustainable Future," explored impact investing with Yale alumni. Panelists included Tom Hodgman (NatureVest), Jeff Possick (MissionPoint Partners), Shelby Semmes (Intervale Advisors), and Adam Wolfensohn (Encourage Capital), moderated by Terry Kellogg (Helios Capital Ventures).

The second plenary, "Moving Ahead: Change Making, Sound Science, and the Rule of Law," discussed future directions. Speakers were Paul Anastas (Yale), Tom McHenry (Vermont Law School), and William K. Reilly (World Wildlife Fund; former EPA Administrator). Ingrid C. Burke, Dean of F&ES, served as moderator.

Research Seminar - The Answer Was Blowin' in the Wind

Andrew J. McElrone is a Plant Physiologist with USDA-ARS and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis. He previously served as Director of the USDA California Climate Hub.

His research, titled "The Answer Was Blowin’ in the Wind," details the transformation of surface renewal into a commercially viable irrigation management tool. This innovation provides an accurate method for measuring crop evapotranspiration (ET).

More than a pill: health as a social movement

"Health as a Social Movement" is a three-year NHS England-funded program. It aims to understand and support social movements in health and care, working with New Care Model vanguards and national partners (The RSA, New Economics Foundation, Nesta). The program develops and spreads effective ways to mobilize people, improving health and care outcomes with a positive return on investment.

The animation, "More Than a Pill," sponsored through the RSA Student Design Awards, clarifies and illuminates the ideas behind creating a social movement for health. It was voiced by Nathalie Spencer, with thanks to Matthew Stidwill.
