Trudell (2005 Documentary)

The 2005 documentary "Trudell" chronicles the life of American Indian activist and poet John Trudell. The film traces his journey from childhood in Omaha, Nebraska, through his leadership in the American Indian Movement, and his subsequent rebirth as a musician and spoken word poet following the tragic death of his wife in a suspected arson fire. Directed and produced by Heather Rae over more than a decade, "Trudell" aired nationally on PBS's Independent Lens series on April 11, 2006. Notable contributors include Robert Redford, Kris Kristofferson, and Sam Shepard.
