His talk covers how new queens form new colonies and factors determining their survival and decades-long lifespan.
Dr. Cole, a University of Houston Professor, specializes in ant behavior and ecology. He has extensively researched ants, focusing for 33 years on the population biology of the western harvester ant (*Pogonomyrmex occidentalis*) with Diane Wiernasz.
