Ms. Lia Nicholson discusses wealth creation as a top priority in Africa, noting that historical development was carbon-intensive. Amid global net-zero targets, she outlines three low-carbon development scenarios for Sub-Saharan Africa: jobs-for-emissions, clean industrialization, and leapfrogging to a services economy.

Nicholson is optimistic that 8 billion people can live sustainably. She advises governments and companies on environmental policy, currently supporting four West African cities with C40 to develop climate action plans for resilience and net-zero emissions.
