LEGO produces millions of plastic bricks annually, a toy cherished across generations. Despite its inherent durability, the company aims for even greater environmental friendliness by 2030. Nelleke, a chemical engineer, leads this ambitious goal.

Nelleke's career began in Rotterdam, instilling a "stop talking, start working" ethos. After a PhD from TU Delft, she gained extensive experience in chemical process design in the US and at Avantium Technologies in Amsterdam. Her diverse background honed her skills in innovation and collaboration within the chemical industry.

Our linear economy relies on non-renewable petroleum, making a circular system impossible. Plants, the origin of petroleum, offer a naturally abundant and renewable alternative.

Historically, converting complex plant material into petroleum-like molecules was challenging. However, researchers at EPFL in Switzerland have developed a method to fully valorize and utilize plants as a petroleum substitute.

Working at AMV BBDO London for eight years, Dal and Mike are board members whose globally recognized work includes AMV's first White Pencil, the UK's first Green Pencil at The One Show, two Cannes Grand Prix, and a prestigious Design Museum trophy. Mackenzie Feldman, 23, from Honolulu, Hawaii, founded Herbicide-Free Campus to ban herbicides at schools nationwide. Her campaign began at UC Berkeley, inspired by Hawaii's industrial agriculture and its impact on land and people. After an herbicide spraying incident at UC Berkeley's volleyball courts, she successfully initiated a campus-wide ban.

A major achievement was the temporary ban of glyphosate across all University of California campuses. Mackenzie has since expanded her efforts nationally, mentoring students, providing resources, and training them in campaign strategy and alternative maintenance methods. She aims for a toxic-free world, protecting communities and ecosystems from harmful pesticides.
